I would like to sincerely thank all the Club Members and non-Club members that helped over the Single Fin Festival. This is one of the most memorable Single Fin Festivals to date. It is hard to say which is better from year to year, because this event has its own special vibe.
This year in particular all the stars lined up as the weather and Surf were exceptional, which helped the character of 2009 Single Fin Festival.
Starting with the Luncheon:- Adam Burnett and Nick Heath for the door, and getting the Auction items and Raffle sorted. Ashley Humphries for getting in the Speakers (or stars) to make it a successful afternoon with James Watson, Craig Wing, Peter Evans, Occy, and Freddo Lang . Ron Williams for getting the give-aways organized. And to all the Club members that came and supported the cause of the Luncheon(Charity and Junior Development). I would also like to thank the Bears League Club and our Sponsors Honolua and Air Asia.
At the contest:- I would like to Thank Terry Teece and Dwayne Harris for their microphone work and also Terry’s work with the media. Many thanks to Contest Directors Guy Walker & Ash Humphries, plus Dave Paget, Wilba, and Phil Gregory for their check in duties and scoring add ups.
Thanks to Rob Crowe for supplying the contest white board already sign written for the Comp. Also the Judging staff, and special credit to one of the Club’s Juniors Jed Denison who judged all week-end and could have a promising career.
Thanks for the work done by the BBQ crew:- Duck and Michelle , Craig, Donna and Chelsea Whillans, Kim Harris, Laurel Murphy, John Denison, Muzza, Michael Mills, and Mouse, they worked tirelessly all week-end. Thanks to Hammish Whillans and Ed Boston for selling the Air Asia raffle tickets on Saturday and Sunday.
Another big thanks to our Local Councillor Greg Betts and his Wife Susan, plus Donna Marie Wilson (GCCC) for supporting the Club and getting behind the Club’s future. All the Honolua staff who helped with the prizes and gear for the Contest, including the Band “The Blue Kahoulas”.
Thanks to the Gold Coast City Council and Warren Young who sanctioned this event for the Burleigh Boardriders. If I have missed anyone please thank yourself, as you all know who you are that helped make it a great week-end.
For me it will be the most memorable because it was in memory of Mick Murphy who was instrumental in starting the Single Fin Contest with the other Local Burleigh Boys all those years ago.
Big thanks again, stay safe until the next year’s Festival.
Regards Ed & Pam Lindores,
Burleigh Boardriders President and Treasurer
