Are you the next Mick Fanning? Red Bull Junior Surf Masters to Hit Queensland in August! (Monday 18th May, 2009): IF you’re between 14-20 years old and dream of one day becoming a pro surfer, then get ready because Red Bull is looking for the next Mick Fanning! The Red Bull Junior Surf Masters presented by Mick Fanning will be held in Queensland this August giving young surfers an amazing opportunity to launch their surfing careers. There are plenty of awesome give-aways for each participant and the total prize pool of the event is over $45,000, with the first prize being the biggest ever awarded in a junior surf event in Australia. How it works is that a series of six qualifying events will take place in various NSW and QLD locations. The top four surfers from each event (24 in total) will then be invited to battle it out at the Red Bull Junior Surf Masters Trials to be held at Cronulla in Sydney’s south, on Friday 28th August, 2009.The top ten from the Trials will then compete against ten Pro Junior surfers, hand-picked by Mick Fanning, in a new exciting ‘Torched’ surfing format introduced in last year’s Red Bull Junior Surf Masters competition.Fanning is stoked to give something back to grass roots surfing and will be attending the Red Bull Junior Surf Masters Finals at Cronulla to watch all the future Aussie stars in action! Entries cost $30, with all proceeds going to Surfing Queensland Surfing Development.
