North End , Burleigh and MNM are competing, but to add a bit more competition to it we have invited Point Look Out Boardriders to take part also. They have not yet confirmed as yet but hopefully this will be done very soon. That way each heat on the day will involve 4 surfers, 1 from each club. From next year onwards we would then invite a different club to take part as the 4th club and so on each year after.
As the event is named after a surfing legend from the northern end of the Gold Coast, this year we a going to hold a band/movie night on the Saturday night before the event (23rd July). This will be on at the SANDS BAR in Surfers Paradise(restaurant under the Chateau bulding). It will be for all over 18 year old members of all clubs involved and any of Joe’s former mates from back in the day. We will have signed framed posters of Joe Engel for raffle so get the word out as we hope to get a good turn up of the ‘old boys’.
