Come Support Burleigh this Saturday at Boardriders Battle!!

Gold Coast, Queensland Monday 21st August, 2017 – The Queensland qualifying leg of the 2017 nudie Australian Boardriders Battle will kick off on the Gold Coast this Saturday the 26th of August and play host to the state’s best boardriders clubs as they fight for a spot at the national final in Newcastle, NSW in February 2018.

Over 10 clubs will line up in the event this year to stake their claim as Queensland’s best, including the reigning 2016 Queensland Champions the Burleigh Boardriders. In previous years the series has seen some of the biggest names in surfing history representing their local boardriders clubs including world champions Joel Parkinson, Mick Fanning and Stephanie Gilmore.

“Australia has continuously produced some of the best surfers in the world including World Champions such as Mick Fanning, Joel Parkinson, Stephanie Gilmore and Tyler Wright. Boardriders clubs are the backbone of surfing in Australia and continue to grow and shape our athletes,” said Surfing Queensland Events Manager Dev Lahey.

Participating boardriders clubs in this weekend’s event include: Kirra boardriders, Coolum boardriders, Point Lookout, Burleigh Heads, MNM (Mermaid, Nobbys, Miami), Palm Beach, North End (Narrowneck, Main Beach), Currumbin, Windandsea (Moffat Beach), North Shore (Maroochydore) and Snapper Rocks.
