Gold Coast Queensland, Tuesday 5th July, 2011: Liam O’Brien (Burleigh Heads, Qld) progressed through the first round of the 12 and Under Boys division today at the 2011 Billabong Occy’s Grom Comp.
Posting a combined two-wave heat total of 12.53 points (out of a possible 20), O’Brien placed first toppling Kyuss King (Byron Bay – 10.83 points), Samson Coulter (Manly, NSW – 9.50 points) and Ulysse Cuitot (Tahiti, PYF – 5.30 points) who finished second to fourth respectively.
Performing several big back hand snaps O’Brien looked in fine form on the clean waves of Duranbah Beach.
“That was fun, I love going left,” said O’Brien.
“I cannot wait to get back out there, it is so much fun” he said.
