Coast of Origin comp this weekend

1. Area Challenge ‘Event Hotline’ has been set up. Competitors from both Areas can phone the event hotline anytime after 6.20am on the day of competition for exact event location and start times.

Event Hotline : (07) 3030 6388

EVENT Contact (GOLD COAST AREA CHALLENGE – NORTH) Cameron Jones 0438178031(MNM)

EVENT Contact (GOLD COAST AREA CHALLENGE – SOUTH) Andrew McCarthy 0405 512 002(Alley)

2. The draw will be posted on the Surfing Queensland’s website Friday night 3 June. It won’t go up until late. The link is http://www.surfingqueensland.com/events.php . You will also be able to view the draw on Leaked Media’s website www.leakedmedia.com.au late Friday evening.

3. First heat in the water is Open Men’s and is due to kick off at 8.00am. Please ensure your Open Men’s surfers are aware of this. Due to a full schedule, we will not be able to put any heats ‘on hold’ waiting for competitors to show.

4. A judging roster will be circulated on Friday to those Club members who were noted down as competition judges for the event. The Judging panel will be made up of one head judge (Tim Just/North & Tye Connighan/South) and three panel judges. The panel of three will rotate every hour. There is NO computer scoring so everything will be done manually.

5. Come ‘event day’ it is everyone’s responsibility to show ‘duty of care’ regarding WH&S. Gold Coast City Council have been very supportive of our events to date. I would hope we can all be vigilant in maintaining the event site in a safe, clean and respectable manner. It would be appreciated if some could assist with breaking down the event site at the end of the day. Thanks

6. Please note on your TEAM NOMINATIONS FORM that the TAG-TEAM section may be missing on your document(if its an old one), and so we will need you to add your 5 surfer(max) tag-team to your clubs nominations(and payment) with 1 surfer from each division stated : 1 x Over 35’s Men, 1 x Open Men, 1 x Open Women, 1 x Under 18 Boys, 1 x Under 18 girls. If you don’t have a full team, don’t stress, just nominate your 3 or 4 surfers, and have a go on the day!… a 7pt ride will make up for a missing team member if another teams surfer gets a 3 as one of their 2 scoring waves for example. Its a standard Tag-Team format with 45 mins for 5 surfers to catch max 3 waves with top 2 scoring waves going towards teams total + 5 bonus points for first team in, and minus 5 points for any teams failing to complete their efforts within the 45 minute time period. Note: 3 or 4 surfer teams cannot receive the 5 bonus points.

7. This is our fist ‘hit out’ at this style of Interclub Series. I am stoked at the amount of effort all our Clubs, in particular those members who have given their precious time and effort to make this ‘Coast of Origin’ Interclub series a reality! Let’s continue the momentum and help out where we can on the day!

Conditions are looking absolutely magic for Sunday with light off-shores all day and 2-4 ft of swell!!

Likely locations at this stage look like either Currumbin Alley – the beachbreaks near the Currumbin SLSC for the South events, and Nth Burleigh –Nobbys for the North event.

Exact locations will be noted on the Event Hotline at 6:20am Sunday morning.
