Sally Fitzgibbons Surf Camp – by Skye Fagan

After searching for waves all over the place we found some fun breaks during the 2 day camp with Sal, Chelsea and Samba our three couches. Surfing Currumbin Beach Front, Nobbies, D’Bha and Cabarita we were videoed whilst we surfed so we could see what we were doing wrong and areas that we could improve on. We had sessions where we sat to analyse our waves which helped a lot with our techniques, rotations, and arm and head positioning. It was a great experience surfing with Sally and hearing feedback from her, Sal knew down to the tiniest mistakes which could make a huge difference in a turn, it was awesome to hear coming from number 2 in the world. Sal was a fun girl to hang out with she was funny and we had a ball singing along in the HPC vans until we reached the waves. Carve boarding was another thing we did and it also helped with practising lower bottom turns to cut up into a snap. We had to try and get as low as we could to drive our turn. We also received a pack of Goodies from Sally’s sponsor Roxy and we each got a signed poster from Sally with an individual message. Thank Burleigh for paying for me, was fun and I got a lot out of the camp!
