Hello guys and girls,

It’s that time of year again when we request all club members to show up in their masses to show their respect on ANZAC Day.

We are all going to meet at the club house dressed in club colours at 04:00am sharp.

We will paying homage to the many great Australians and New-Zealanders that fought side by side with the British for our free way of life that we enjoy today and formed the ANZAC SPIRIT. In WW1 we lost over 60,000 men, it was a heavy price to pay!

As an Australian i am really proud to be a part of the involvement that our club has shown on this special day in the past and respect for the many lives lost. It also cements Burleigh Boardriders as an integral part of our local community.

So get to the club house at 04:00am especially you grommets (and yes all parents welcome!), from there we will walk to the dawn service together at Memorial Park (opposite the bowls Club) to mark the landing at Gallipoli at 04:28am. Here, our club president and junior president will both lay a wreath at the ANZAC memorial.

Following the service, we will all go back to the club house for a bacon and egg BBQ breakfast and a club mingle. This will be followed by the inaugural ANZAC DAY CUP: this will be an AUS V NZ TEAMS SURF COMP..more news to come on this……
At 9am we will all then proceed to the top of James street on the eastern side car-park (in front of Tom Ugly’s) for the club to march down James street together following the diggers and represent our club with pride among the community of Burleigh,

I urge all members to be a part of this march as it is a great honor to be included in the proceedings of ANZAC DAY in the community of Burleigh.

Lets all show up with pride in a sea of red and white.

JAMES LEWIS
