Call to Show Respect for Our Fallen Diggers

Calling all Burleigh Boardriders. This Friday morning, 25/04/2014 all Burleigh Heads Boardriders are request to come down and show their respect for our fallen diggers as the club presents a wreath on behalf of our members at the 2014 Dawn Service.

All members are to meet in full club uniform at the Clubhouse at 4am so we can walk down to the service, and present the wreath on the behalf of the club in respect of the fallen soldiers. After the service we will all go for a surf followed by a BBQ and social gathering.

The service starts at 4.28am…. Why 4.28am you ask?

Well 4.28am was the time when the first diggers landed on the beach at Gallipoli, and all those young lives were taken. They were representing Australia, and giving their lives so that we can enjoy the freedom we have today. Many young lives taken in their prime, some were 18 and above, but many lied about their age. Some young as, or younger than 16 years. So groms, put yourself in that position. Grommets, ladies and gentlemen – think how that would be for you.

So once again, can all members meet at the Burleigh Boardriders Clubhouse at 4.00am in full club uniform, so we can one and all show respect for the diggers, and show, we as Burleigh Boardriders are well and truly part of our local community.
