Hurley Ace Buchan Surf Camp attracts large contingent of Burleigh Boardriders youngsters

Thursday July 1 2010: Casuarina Beach NSW: Sixteen young surfers are locked in for this weekends Hurley Ace Buchan Camp which runs at Surfing Australia’s High Performance Centre (HPC) at Casuarina on the far north coast of NSW.

With excellent facilities along with ideal surf beaches to train the youngsters, the knowledge they’ll receive from a surfer like Adrian Buchan will no doubt set them on a pathway to achieving their best in their future surf careers.

Buchan is presently rated 12th on the ASP world rankings and his surfing capabilities along with his outstanding competitive know how will see him impart vital skills on these enthusiastic youngsters.
“I am really looking forward to the inaugural Hurley Ace Buchan surf camp and the chance to work with and pass on some of my knowledge to the next crop of Australian surfers,” said Buchan.

“The junior surfing structure in Australia is second to none and I am stoked that Hurley and Surfing Australia are stepping up to keep evolving the programs and provide the kids with all the tools they need to succeed.

“It’s a privilege to be asked to be a part of this program.

“I’m in the middle of preparing for a big leg of events through Jeffery’s Bay, Tahiti, California and Europe so it will be great to feed off the kids energy in the water and whip them into shape on land – I can’t wait!”

Buchan is one of Australia’s most celebrated junior surfers and is no stranger to the big league, having dusted nine-times ASP Men’s World Champion Kelly Slater to notch his first World Tour victory at the Quiksilver Pro France in 2008.

Burleigh Heads Boardriders are super excited about this camp placing 12 of their juniors into the program.

“This is a great opportunity for some specialized junior development “ said Burleigh Boardriders Club secretary Terry Teece.

“With Jay Thompson and Thomas Woods excelling at higher levels in the club, our youngsters right now are inspired to become excellent surfers and a program like this with a mentor like Buchan is simply fantastic and the club is honoured to be helping our kids.”

“We’re all about developing the juniors and we have an exciting bunch right now” added Teece.

A newsfeed along with a press release and digital images from this camp will be available by the end of the weekend and all press will be notified.
