From the “You don’t know how lucky you are” dept.

Am in the Observation hotel complex doing seminars – overlooking Scarborough beach, Perth.
1 ft wave and cold water and more people in the last few days than the point on a good day!!!

  • I grew up surfing the lifless slop of Scarborough or “scabs” as we grommets aptly named it. I spent many summers on my Al Bean shaped Santosha,( still have it in the shed) honing my chick pulling skills( hopeless) and watching Monaros etc do burnouts the length of the carpark. I used to by every surf mag i could afford and drool over the double page spreads of Kirra, Snapper, this weird place called D’Bar? and the all mighty Burleigh Point. As a grom I couldnt wait to become a part of a living legend, the Burleigh Boardriders. It took a whole lot of hard work and 20 years but I can finally say my local is 4220.
So even when the point is pumping and crowded, remember its better than surfing cold crap with crowds.
