The July round of the Club Championship was the scene of a major upset with 14 year old Gene Thompson winning the Open division as well as the cadets. Gene fired up winning his semi and the final in the Opens. Gene and his mate Hamish Whillians are the up and coming squad at the point, so look out for them in the future. Well done Gene keep rippin’ it up and you could be the next Thompson on the WCT.

There was a few little peelers rolling down the point but the rip was full on!

The surf was a bit like the weather, bits of good patches, but pretty average overall. The waves were lacking a bit of power, but it was a great roll-up considering the weather and the big night most of the crew had had after the big arvo at the Burleigh Bears. The bears had a great win, and everyone had a great time..Some funny bits though…Champ forgot his boardies and surfed in speedos…. I know that the complaints were coming in thick and fast, as Champ did his best impersonation of Mad Marty. Please never forget your boardies again mate!

Fabs again on top of the ratings

Excellent surfing from Fisher, Fabs, and all the open finalists, including Nick Heath, “Stench” was a man on are mission doing well in the senior’s as well. The rip on the rockbreak was a killer, and many were caught paddling for most of the heat, hard yaka and a big rip for such small waves.
